Information Builders Partners With LucidWorks to Build Custom Open-Source Search Capabilities

Creates Powerful Enterprise Search Experience for Customers Across Both Structured and Unstructured Data Sets

NEW YORK, NY – October 7, 2010 – Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced a partnership with LucidWorks, the commercial company for Apache Lucene and Solr open source search technologies, to develop custom enterprise search capabilities for customers through the Information Builders WebFOCUS BI platform. LucidWork’s solutions will be deployed alongside the WebFOCUS Magnify application to provide powerful search capabilities across both structured and unstructured data sets. As a result, the search experience for the end user is both fast and accurate.

Customers using WebFOCUS will be able to use the WebFOCUS Magnify application with LucidWork’s search technologies to broaden the scope of their enterprise search capabilities. Information Builders will leverage Lucid’s expertise and add-on technologies to build custom solutions for customers that can search Word documents, corporate intranets, CRM systems, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and more.

“By partnering with LucidWorks, Information Builders has access to the most powerful way to search unstructured information through the Apache Lucene search engine,” said Rado Kotorov, chief innovation officer at Information Builders. “Having the Lucid team’s subject matter expertise helped us expand our solution set in the enterprise search department, giving our customers flexible, custom solutions that fit their individual needs.”

“Our strategic partnership with Information Builders is helping us reach more customers by pairing our powerful, cost-effective enterprise search solutions with an equally intuitive BI platform that makes it simpler and faster for customers to get access to the actionable information they need from business systems,” said Eric Gries, chief executive officer of LucidWorks. “In our experience, open source enterprise search technology is one of the most powerful, economically scalable ways for companies to unlock the value of the growing volumes of corporate content and data they’re expected to manage, in a format that they’re familiar with using ¬– the search engine.”
