Guest Post: ManifoldCF in Action, new book from Manning Press
For those of you who have run into the problem of getting content out of a repository and into Solr, there is a solution. ManifoldCF entered the Apache Incubator back in January 2010.
It currently supports connectors for a wide variety of popular proprietary repositories, such as Documentum, FileNet, SharePoint, LiveLink, Meridio, as well as support for crawling Windows shares, databases, the web, and RSS feeds. With the help of Manning Publishing, I’ve been writing a book on this project, called “ManifoldCF in Action”, which is now beginning to be available chapter-by-chapter, through the Manning Early Release Program. The book is written for system integrators, consultants, and Java developers, and its focus is on the integration of ManifoldCF with enterprise systems and repositories.
You can check out the offering, and look at the first chapter for free here.
Karl Wright has been developing ManifoldCF since 2006, from its roots at MetaCarta well before it became an Apache project. He has extensive experience in speech recognition and compiler development, and he is the author of Borland’s Turbo Assembler. Karl holds Computer Science degrees from M.I.T. and Stanford.
